The Wedding of Basil & Chieko
On September 17, 2006, CLM Weddings had the pleasure of coordinating the marriage of
Chieko to Basil at The Hyatt at Lake Las Vegas. This extraordinary destination wedding
welcomed 70 guests from all over the world; guests flew in from Japan (including the
couple), Germany, Los Angeles, and New York City. The color scheme featured ivory,
champagne, bronze and gold, with beautiful touches of green to bring attention to the
beautiful landscaping surrounding the couple—truly an oasis in the desert!

The ceremony was held in a gazebo overlooking Lake Las Vegas and a lush green golf
course. The bride began her walk down the aisle from a corridor lined with glass vases and
gold stands. As the music began, she stepped out upon a white aisle strewn with ivory rose
petals. Chieko was the symbol of grace and elegance in a full ball gown of layered ivory silk,
embellished with delicate floral patterns. She carried a bouquet of white and ivory Vendella
roses surrounding in a cloud of green hydrangea and tied in white satin ribbon. Basil and
Chieko exchanged their vows and rings, then took part in a sand unity ceremony, visibly
linking their two pasts and two families together.

During the cocktail reception, replete with many congratulations to the happy couple, guests
enjoyed the sounds of a string quartet.

From there, guests were welcomed to a stunning reception. To enter the reception, family
and friends walked through diaphanous white chiffon that swayed gently in the light breeze.
As they parted the fabric, guests saw large round tables topped with gold satin linens with a
second overlay of embroidered and beaded organza. On each table stood centerpieces of
glass vases with submerged greenery, from which white and cream Vendella roses, white
orchids and lilies jumped out at all angles, anchored in green hydrangea to mimic Chieko’s
bouquet. These were surrounded by little tea lights in glass vases which reflected upon gold
charger plates. Carefully tucked into gold satin napkins were adorable cookies that read,
“Just Married in Las Vegas!”

Buffet tables were laden with such delights as crab legs, oysters on the half shell, and tiers
of chocolate-covered strawberries. Basil and Chieko’s happiness was toasted with sips of
delicate champagne to tickle one’s senses and one’s heart.

The night was a truly glamorous affair, one that CLM Weddings was honored to share. It
was ultimately Basil’s and Chieko’s dream wedding and a vision made true by a great group
of Coordinators, designers, caterers and help. We congratulate Basil and Chieko and wish
them a lifetime of happiness filled with memories of a lakeside wedding and golden reception.
